The Back Story
My last post was about my “Book Reading” videos for kids. Another new type of video I started creating is my simple method to help non-native English speaker improve their listening and speaking skills. It’s a common 4-step method that will help you improve quickly if you practice along with the videos.
This video below is intended for intermediate and above English speakers. High-beginners to intermediate-level English speakers can also use this video, but I recommend starting with Step-2 and Step-3. After learning the script, go back and try Step-1 and Step-4.
Here’s how it works:
Step-1
LISTEN to the story at the NORMAL SPEAKING SPEED WITHOUT THE SCRIPT. (You can optionally transcribe the audio at this step, which is a very effective way to accurately check what have you heard.)
Step-2
LISTEN and REPEAT along WITH THE SCRIPT, one sentence at a time, at the SLOWER SPEAKING SPEED. Very useful for everyone, but especially for high-beginners to intermediate-level English speakers. It’s a great way to train your ear and mind!
Step-3
LISTEN and REPEAT the entire story along WITH THE SCRIPT (shadowing), at the SLOWER SPEAKING SPEED. Very useful for everyone, but especially for high-beginners to intermediate-level English speakers.
Step-4
LISTEN and REPEAT the entire story along WITH THE SCRIPT (shadowing), at the NORMAL SPEAKING SPEED. Very useful for everyone, but especially for intermediate-level to advanced-level English speakers.
“What is Your Blood Type?” is the third video of this type that I created. I improved and refined the method after the first two videos I produced.
